We took part in Heritage Open Days on 14 & 15 September 2019 when we were open to the public. We had good weather and a constant stream of visitors.
We had the water wheel turning most of the time, powered by a water pump. Initially on Saturday we had problems with the pump overheating but it settled down and worked all weekend, our visitors enjoyed watching the water wheel turning from our viewing platform.
We had lots of cakes and sausage rolls which the volunteers and visitors enjoyed. Many visitors gave generous contributions in our donation box which turns a model water wheel when banknotes are put in, and we made tea and coffee for everyone.
The volunteers enjoyed meeting the visitors and explaining the work carried out and we had the model mill on display in the visitor centre which shows how the mill looked in its working days, we also had the finds discovered during digging of the site on show.
Thank you to all our visitors, if anyone would like to get more involved and become a volunteer, please contact us or see our volunteering article.
