Blue Flower

There have not been any work parties at the mill for a while as Eddie had a hip replacement after a fall, and I had a foot injury and couldn't walk very well. As the lead volunteers, we decided to suspend work parties, but we hope to start again soon.

Fred, Debra, Graeme and David have loaded the shed panels we made onto the trailer that we refurbished, the shed is flatpacked ready to take to the mill for assembly. When attached to the visitor centre we will clad it with matching featheredge boards. Re-used slates will be used on the roof to match this part of the original building.

We hope the shed will be complete by Mills Weekend on 7 & 8 May 2022, preparations are being made for this event. We decided to open 11am to 4pm both days, we will have the water wheel turning and the model mill on display as well as offering refreshments. The event will be publicised nearer the time with posters around the village, on our notice board, and social media. Mills Weekend has already been mentioned in Nar Valley News and full details will be in the next issue.

More Green Community Grant items have now been delivered including a foot operated log splitter, rather ironic as neither Eddie or I will be able to use that for a while with our injuries. Also delivered were a Lizard nest box and suet logs for the bird feeder, these need to be taken to the mill with the bird feeding station and other items which are still at my house. Eddie got two bags of wildflower seeds from his Nephew's wedding which we will use for our Wildflower Meadow project.

I submitted the Bone Mill report for the Annual Parish Meeting which was held on 4/4/22, this informs the public about village organisations activity in the last year, it is good publicity for us. The minutes are available here.

I am preparing a list of the next items to buy for the Wildflower Meadow and Green Community Grants which include wildflower meadow seed, picnic bench, recycle bins and water butt which will be ordered soon.
